Bruce Nolan (Jim Carrey) is a broadcast journalist who is presently sent to what he deems to be indecent jobs, resulting in his becoming the punchline. He goes out to perform a live stream when he is informed he is being evaluated for the post of anchorman, but when it is revealed that Evan Baxter (Steve Carell) would be the next anchorman, he freaked out. He loses his job, is physically assaulted, and so on. Finally, he accuses God. God then chooses to bestow Bruce His abilities. Bruce then causes mayhem and revels in it. He jeopardizes Evan's show and ends up as an anchorman. While Bruce has everything he desires, he neglects his love Grace, and loses her. And it appears that the only action he can't do is change people's free will, so if he wishes her back, he'll have to take the long route. This proves that God deems actions as bad because they are bad and not that actions are bad because God says so. Bruce Nolan, who becomes God, performs multiple bad actions throughout the film and experiences the repercussions of them. Even when God himself performs bad actions He must suffer the consequences because he does not dictate what is right and wrong. This is also true for the inverse because when Bruce changes and starts performing good actions he experiences the payoff of them.
