The Fundamentals of Caring, 2016

The “fundamentals of Caring” is a movie released in 2016 starring Paul Rudd as the character Ben and Selina Gomez as Dot. Ben is a out of work writer who decides to get into the field of home health care. After taking a brief certification course Ben interviews for a job to take care of a young man diagnosed with a form of muscular dystrophy named Trevor. After getting the job Ben realizes that Trevor is very routine oriented. He attempts to get him out of his shell. Trevor owns a map of out-of-the-ordinary landmarks he wants to see. Ben thought it was a good idea to take him on a road trip. After some hesitancy, Trevor decides to go through with the trip.
On their journey, they meet Dot, a hitchhiker who was attempting to get to Denver from Olympia Washington. Dot decides to join them on the rest of their journey to the world’s deepest pit. She ends up becoming Trevor’s love interest though out the film. Along the way, they also meet Peaches a pregnant woman whose car breaks down in the middle of the highway. Once they finally arrive at their destination Peaches goes into labor and delivers her baby. Forcing Ben to help deliver it.
This Movie relates to care ethics because throughout the film we can see the bond with Trevor and Ben grow throughout the film realizing that their relationship was not strictly professional and just someone Trevor needs to rely on. A true friendship formed along the way.
